Bernardine Y. Amoakwah-Kankam is a Legal Officer at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana, where she provides legal advisory services in institutional governance, compliance, contracts and MoUs, and policy development. She currently serves as the Acting Corporate Legal Officer and plays an active role in the ongoing review and drafting of a new CSIR Act.

Her practice centers on Corporate Law, supported by extensive legal training and international academic exposure. She holds an LLB from the University of Hull and an LLM in Human Rights and Administrative Justice from Nottingham Trent University, and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP University in the United Kingdom. She has also participated in a Human Rights Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. Upon returning to Ghana, she undertook the Post-Call Law Course and was called to the Ghana Bar in 2023.

Since her call, Bernardine has built experience in institutional legal affairs and has represented CSIR at high-level engagements, including the Space Law Technical Advisory Mission and other international conferences.

She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and is committed to advancing legal reform and promoting ethical governance within Ghana’s scientific and innovation ecosystem.
