Background

In keeping with the requirements of 1996 Act which empowers the CSIR Council to emphasize on the private sector concerns and the introduction of market principles into the Council’s operations through the commercialization of research, the Council established CSIR Plus Limited as a private sector vehicle through which CSIR would market and sell its products and services in a more structured and coordinated way.

This Company is a special purpose company set up by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to undertake profit-oriented projects. It was incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) on December 31, 2009 as a private limited liability company and was issued with a Certificate to Commence business on January 4, 2010. The company was re-registered under the same Act stated above on 28^th April, 2016. CSIR–Plus Limited is wholly owned by CSIR.

The mandate of CSIR Plus Limited include assuming control and sales and marketing of CSIR products and services. This measure will generate revenue for CSIR Plus Limited and at the same time boost the income of CSIR and also catapult the brand equity of the CSIR as a development driven Research and Development institution.

The Company’s main areas of responsibility include:

• Developing and maintaining relationships between CSIR and industry.
• Negotiating and managing contract research collaboration which involves technology transfer.
• Forming and managing start-up companies to commercialize technologies developed by CSIR.

Management of CSIR Plus Limited

The Company is managed by the Chief Executive Officer who reports to the Company’s Board of Directors. The Board is appointed by the CSIR Council the owners of the Company and reports to same.

CONSIR Executive Lodge

CONSIR Executive Lodge is a subsidiary hospitality company under the CSIR Plus Limited. It is a twenty-eight room two-star Hotel in a quiet and serene environment. It is located at 29 Sekou Toure Street (GA-016-6592) in the business district of Accra.
