The awards dubbed “CSIR CHAIRMAN’S TROPHY AWARDS” were received by the CSIR-Building and Road Research Institute (CSIR-BRRI), CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute (CSIR-OPRI) and CSIR-Crops Research Institute (CSIR-CRI).

The First and Third place awards which respectively went to CSIR-BRRI and CSIR-CRI were presented to the Institutes at a colourful ceremony on Wednesday 16th December 2020 at CSIR-BRRI at Fumesua, Kumasi.

Presenting the Awards, Prof. Robert Kingsford-Adaboh, Chairman of CSIR Governing Council praised the recipient Institutes for their hard work and urged them to sustain the efforts to bring in more resources to support research and other activities in the Institute and Council.

The Chairman said that sustaining IGF is crucial to the operations of CSIR and therefore urged all institutes to emulate the hard work of CSIR-BRRI and the other two award winning institutes.

Prof. Kingsford-Adaboh commended all stakeholders especially the Board members, the Internal Management Committee and staff of the Institutes for the roles they played that led to the recognition they have received.  The Council Chairman was accompanied by Mr. Krofah, a member of the CSIR Governing Council and Prof. Paul P. Bosu, Deputy Director-General (D-DG) of CSIR.

The First-Place award was received on behalf of CSIR-BRRI jointly by Prof. Samuel Afram, member of the Institute’s Management Board and Dr. Daniel Asenso-Gyambibi Director of the Institute.

The Third-Place award was received on behalf of the CSIR-CRI by the Deputy Director of the Institute, Prof. Marian Dorcas Quain.
