Pozzolana cement

A highly active cementitious material, made from local clay and a good substitute for clinker which is used for Portland cement production, has been developed and transferred to an Entrepreneur for commercial production. Pozzolana has been tested and proven internationally to be very durable. It has the potential to replace Portland cement by 40% and save the country at least $30 million dollars per year on clinker imports.

Two new cowpea varieties

Two new cowpea varieties, Nhyira and Tona, which are rich in Iron and Calcium have also been developed by the CSIR for release to farmers. It is expected that these new varieties of maize and cowpea will be used extensively to support the poultry industry in the country and the Public School Feeding Programme.

Developed vaccination schedules against the Gumboro (Infectious Bursal Disease-IBD) disease to protect both exotic and local poultry.

A qualified, self-motivated, and achievement-oriented Food Technologist with over twenty (20) years’ experience in research and development, as well as in project planning and management. Dr. Dziedzoave is also licensed to practice as a Chartered Management Consultant (CMC) by the Chartered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants (CIAMC), Ghana.

Currently the Director of the CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (FORIG) and a Chief Research Scientist. He is a known tree domestication specialist at the World Agroforestry Centre, International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) and served as the coordinator of the Allanblackia domestication project in Eastern, Western and Central African Regions.

Dr. (Mrs.) Marian D. Quain holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Botany with Zoology, M.Phil (Botany – Plant Physiology) and PhD (Botany-Plant Physiology) from the University of Ghana, Legon. Her research interest is biased towards Biotechnology. She has expertise in tissue culture, cryopreservation, genetic transformation, plant physiology, molecular biology, Biosafety and Biotechnology stewardship.
